
Although the government has shelved proposals to de-regulate uni fees, there is still the very real possibility that they will become uncapped. And there is also a possible that in the future, the goverment will eventually try to pass a bill to de-regulate fees. This could mean massive debts well into your adult life. There has also been proposed cuts of A$152.2 million over four years, to the Higher Education Participation Program – a fund that helps support potential university students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. In order to stimulate growth for our country and economy, the government needs to allow for equal oppurtunity to pursue Higher education for those that want to do so, whether from low socioeconomic backgrounds or not. De-regulation of uni fees and cuts to funding mean we will have less and less young adults pursuing higher education and thus less skilled people in the workforce
